What’s New On The BlackBerry Storm 3
The BlackBerry Storm 3 comes hot on the heels of the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 upgrade. Many people thought there would be another Storm 2 upgrade after two upgrades so far but it seems the guys at RIM have different ideas. The BlackBerry Storm 3 has been the subject of many rumors on forums across the nation. However, whether this storm will shake the smart phone market or simply be a storm in a tea cup is still anybody’s guess.
Looking very much like the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550, the Storm 3 comes with a full-faced touch screen 3.7 inches in size. The curves and color also follow its predecessor coming in with the typical BlackBerry black with some great stylish curves. The 5MP camera delivers more quality than the 3.15MP of its predecessor. Not much has changed by way of the overall design and users can expect the same feel of the Storm 2 on this baby.
The phone has 2G and 3G network capabilities with the former in the quad-band spectra. As noted, the screen is a 3.7 inch TFT screen with Accelerometer and optical track-pad features for auto rotate. You then have the typical unlimited phonebook entries and caller records. The internal memory weighs in at 8GB with 512RAM and an expandable memory of up to 32GB on microSD. Data capabilities comprise GPRS, EDGE, 3G and WLAN with Bluetooth thrown in to sweeten the deal. These are nevertheless not overly impressive as they fall way short of the data capabilities of other smart phones such as the iPhone 4 and Samsung Galaxy S. The phone runs on BlackBerry OS 6.0 with an HTML browser. This phone will now be equipped with a micro-USB port. It has no radio but has Java with a whole host of Java powered knickknacks such as BlackBerry Maps, document editor, media player, and an organizer. PUSH email, MMS, email, IM and RSS are also supported.
Compared to the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550, the Storm 3 does not support EV-DO capabilities but contains a lot more internal memory. In addition, the Storm 3 uses the latest version of the BlackBerry OS which promises to be faster and more efficient. Compared to the iPhone 4 just recently released, there are a host of differences. The iPhone 4 has a 16M color display compared to the 65K of the Storm 3. Touch screen capabilities of the iPhone 4 are also more advanced than the Storm 3. Nonetheless, BlackBerry makes it easy with the easily available Java capability which for iPhone is rather limiting.
The BlackBerry Storm 3 accessories expected include the BlackBerry Presenter, extra battery charger, microUSB cable, BlackBerry Storm 3 cases, amongst others. These accessories are anticipated to be similar to those of the Storm 2 although there are suggestions that some extra BlackBerry Storm 3 accessories may be added to the collection.
